How to make spicy crunch spirals / murukku / chakli

Sesame seeds adds more taste to the recipe. Chakli can be fried in vegetable oil as well as ghee. Chakli fried in ghee are softer and tastier. Let us see the procedure of making this recipe


  • Rice flour- 2 cups
  • Mungdal paste- 1/2 cup paste
  • Turmeric- 1/2 spoon
  • Carom seeds- 1/2 spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • Sesame seeds- 2 spoons
  • Red chilli powder- as required


step 1: Soak moogdal for 2-3hrs and make into fine batter.

Step 2: Take a bowl, add rice flour, moongdal paste, turmeric powder and mix it well.

Step 3: Add caroms seeds, chilli powder and salt , stir it well by using required amount of water.

Step 4:Add sesame seeds and make the mixture into small balls and place in mould.

Step 5:Heat oil till it starts smokes.

Step 6:Drop the chalki slowly into oil and fry them till it turns into brown color.

Step 7: Repeat the process for all the dough.

Step 8: Serve them in a plate.
