How to make spinach chutney

Yummy yummy!! spinach chutney served hot with steam rice or roti. It has delicious taste and simple to prepare. Let us see procedure of making the recipe.


  • Spinach- 2 cups
  • Urad dhal- 1 spoon
  • Chana dhal- 1 spoon
  • Red chillies- 2
  • Ginger- 1/2 inch
  • Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  • Lemon juice- 2 spoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Black salt- 1/2 spoon
  • Oil- 2 spoons
  • Tomato-1
  • Green chillies-2
  • Mustard seed- 1/4 spoon
  • Asafoetida- pinch


Step 1: Heat spoon oil in a pan, add urad dhal, chana dhal, mutard seeds and saute it for 2min.

Step 2: Add curry leaves, asafoetida, green chillies, red chillies, ginger and tomato pieces and stir it well.

Step 3: Add spinach and cook it for 2-5min at low flame.

Step 4: After spinach becomes soft and dark off the flame.

Step 5: Set aside till it gets cool and make into fine paste in grinder.

Step 6: Add coriander leaves, black salt, salt and water while grinding.

Step 7: Add lemon juice to the chutney.

Step 8: Heat oil and add chutney to it and stir it well

Enjoy the yummy spinach chutney with hot rice.
