How to cook banana flower cutlet/ banana flower chop

Banana flower cutlet/ fritters, a tasty and spicy snack item served hot. This recipe is popular in north india prepared within short time. It has delicious taste with different fresh flavors. Let us see the procedure to make this tasty item.

Ingredients:

  • Banana flower- 1medium
  • Poppy seeds- 1 spoon
  • Chopped onions- 1 cup
  • Green chillies- 3 long halves
  • Boiled potatoes- 2 small
  • Vinegar- 1 spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry
  • Sugar- 1 spoon
  • Chopped coriander leaves- 1/2 cup
  • Jeera / cumin seeds- 1/2 spoon
  • Coriander powder- 1/2 spoon
  • Curry leaves- 1 spring
  • Turmeric powder- pinch

Procedure:

Step 1: Peel the outer part of banana and separate the inner flower.

Step 2: Chop into thin pieces and soak them in water for 1 hr

Step 3: Roast poppy seeds and grind into paste by adding water.

Step 4: Add smashed potato, salt, turmeric powder, chopped onions, green chillies, jeera seeds and coriander leaves. Stir it well.

Step 5: Add 1/4 spoon of coriander powder, coriander leaves, vinegar. mix all the ingredients well without lumps.

Step 6: Heat oil in a non-stick pan, make dough into round balls and deep fry in the oil till it turns into brown colour.

Step 7: Place on oil absorbent paper and serve hot with sauce.
