How to make delicious soups using potato and tomato at home

Delicious potato-ham soup and tomato- basil soup, Soups are made with the combination of different flavors. Homemade soup recipes are quick and simple to cook. It is a mouth watering recipe served hot in different ways. Vegetable stock or chicken stock brings more taste to the recipe. Soup is very healthy item and it contains nutrients and phyto chemicals which protects from various diseases. In some soup recipes mostly we prefer high fibre ingredients that plays a vital role in reducing body fat. Now let us see the procedure of making delicious soup.

Recipe name: Potato and ham soup

 Potato and ham soup

Ingredients:

  • Peeled potatoes- 3 cups
  • Chopped onions- 1/4 cup
  • Water- 3 cups
  • Chicken bouillon- 2 spoons
  • Black pepper- 1 spoon
  • Butter- 5 spoons
  • All purpose flour- 5 spoons
  • Milk- 2 cups
  • Celery- 1/3 cup
  • Ham cooked- 3/4 cup
  • Milk- 2 cups

Procedure:

Step 1: Combine potatoes, celery, onions, ham and water in a bowl.

Step 2: Boil for 10-15min at medium flame till potatoes become soft.

Step 3: Add chicken bouillon, salt and pepper. stir it well.

Step 4: In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium flame.

Step 5: Add flour and cook it by stirring it well without any lumps.

Step 6: Add milk slowly and cook it at medium flame until it becomes thick.

Step 7: Cook the whole mixture or 5-10min at medium flame and serve immediately.

Recipe name: Tomato basil soup

 Tomato basil soup

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes- 3-4
  • Garlic pods- 4
  • Olive oil- 4 spoons
  • Onion slices- 1/2 cup
  • Chicken stock- 2 cups
  • Vinegar- 1 spoon
  • Chopped basil leaves- 1/4 cup
  • Pepper flakes- 1/2 spoon
  • Kosher salt- 1 spoon
  • Grounded black pepper 1/2 spoon
  • Dry red wine- 1/4 cup
  • Tomato paste- 1 cup
  • Sugar- 1 spoon
  • Low fat milk cream- 1/2 cup

Procedure:

Step 1: Preheat oven at 375 degrees, cut tomatoes and onions into large chunks.

Step 2: Line baking sheet with parchment paper, place tomatoes, onions, 4 garlic pods and pour olive oil over it.

Step 3: Sprinkle salt and pepper, roast the whole mixture for 1 hr.

Step 4: Later blend the roasted mixture into fine puree until smooth.

Step 5: Heat pan over medium flame, add olive oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. cook for 1-2min.

Step 6: Pour tomato puree and cook for 5min.

Step 7: Add tomato paste, sugar, basil, dry red wine, chicken stock, vinegar and stir it well.

Step 8: Allow to simmer for 30min till smooth.

Step 9: If you want you can blend the whole mixture again or you can serve the soup immediately.

Step 10: Garnish with bread crumbs and basil leaves.

Note:

  • Add bread crumbs to tomato soup for more taste.
  • Choose fresh vegetables to make soup.
